Story
It's over a year since the great David Pinnington aka 'Dave' or Pinners, sadly lost his fight with cancer in January 2013.
Pinners was a super-fit, man of many talents - a great friend to many, an inspirational boss and colleague, and a great son and brother, husband to Mel, and doting dad to Toby and Henry.
Pinners was just a man on a mission in life and was an infectious, boundless well of positivity and energy. When he was diagnosed with cancer in his mid-thirties, he took it head on as you would have expected him to. He fought and stayed unbelievably positive, and with his determination and the breakthrough and innovative help of the Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital, Pinners enjoyed 18 months good quality of living - far more than was initially thought possible.
Much was done by a great many people in the year after David's death to commemorate him and to raise money where possible.
I declared to Pinners' brother Tom recently, that I'd like to do 'something stupid' to keep the flag flying for him after more than a year had passed.
Pinners would approve of the Land's End to London cycle challenge and would have jumped at the chance to do it with us too. So Tom, myself and a trusty band of fundraisers and cyclists have taken on the challenge and will cycle London to Land's End (over 300miles) in just under 3 days, raising as much money as we can for The Royal Marsden, so they too can give more life to those that need it most through their ground-breaking work.
Myself (Bart), Tom and Phil (Dave's brothers), George, Rups, Gavin and Aled will set off on the 15th from Land's End and arrive on the 17th in London.
We hope you can support us, anything you can give would be really appreciated. We're doing it for Pinners and his family and to remember a truly top bloke - hopefully you can also help us help many others in the future too if they are ever unfortunate enough to need it.
thanks from all of us.
Bart, Tom, Phil, George, Rups, Gavin & Aled.
