Story
On May, 30th the Dementia Outreach Team will challenge the height of 3,560 ft highest peak in England and Wales.
A quarter of all patients have got dementia and this group is particularly vulnerable whilst they are in hospital. We want to raise money to help improve the care of patients with dementia at Solihull Hospital. Because we didn’t want to make it too easy, we will be doing this wearing a special Age Experience Suit, that is used during training. This has weights that simulate muscle weakness, joint restrictors to simulate arthritis and glasses headset to represent visual impairment and hearing loss. This will put us in the skin of an elderly person! We are doing this to raise awareness amongst staff about what it can be like to be an older person. The money raised will go towards the purchase a set of dementia friendly crockeries to support patients to eat and drink independently whilst on the wards, together with activity equipment to make their stay less stressful.
Help us reach our goal and sponsor us for this challenge! Make a donation and share our page link with your Facebook /Twitter contacts. help us make a change for elderly patients at Solihull!
