Just because we've shattered our original target, it doesn't mean you're not welcome to donate more!

Well done, thank you and Happy New Year to all who have already shown their support.

As you probably know by now, Darren (Shadowninja) kicked off this little fundraising effort by deciding that just sitting there saying that "something must be done" just wasn't enough!

Following Darren's efforts our fellow PHers pledged over £1,500 to show the guys at Headley Court that, contrary to the opinions expressed by some, we really do recognise and respect the sacrifices that they have made for us and our country, and are willing to put our money - and supercars! - where our mouths are to show some gratitude.

So, how did we get to this page, raising funds for Help for Heroes?  Put simply, every single sentiment expressed on the PH thread is perfectly embodied in what Help for Heroes have been set up to do.  The charity is 100% dedicated to supporting injured service personnel as they move through Sellyoak and on to Headley Court for rehabilitation, plus, as a charity, they can claim Gift Aid to get our tax money back from the chancellor!

We all wanted to ensure that we did something specific for the guys at Headley.  We have talked with staff at Headley, and will be looking to see that a portion of the funds we raise are set aside to get the Wiis that they have suggested would be welcome - once we can actually find some - but we should also recognise that the huge generosity of PHers means that the sum we're expecting to raise far exceeds the amount where we can simply say "we'll get them this" and use the funds for that.  Help for Heroes have all the expertise and contacts necessary to ensure that the additional funds raised will be put to the best possible use in delivering exactly what we had hoped to do when we started out with this.

Keep an eye on PH to find out how you can help with future events like the Ferrari rides for the patients and the staff who look after them, but in the meantime, please...
