Story
16/6/12 -
I am pleased to say we have succesfully completed our challenge. Our final statistics were: 966.1 miles ridden over 83 hours & 41 minutes. We climbed 17,229 metres and only had 1 puncture.
We've both been amazed by how much interest we've had in our trip and the generousity of friends, family and strangers.
** THANK YOU ALL **
Hello!
Ross and I will be cycling 'down' the country from John O' Groats to Lands End, to raise money for the Peggy Dodd centre. We have chosen this charity as it was one that supported my Grandmother whilst she suffered with Vascular Dementia. This challenging ride is over 1,000 miles, and we only have 2 weeks booked off work to complete it. We will be starting on the 1st June 2012.
The Peggy Dodd centre offers a day care facility, which provides respite for families and carers of people suffering with memory loss, such as Dementia. The centre put on activities for all their visitors such as craft sessions, card games, community singing (with local schools), quizzes, memory games, dancing, physical movement exercises etc. All are designed to stretch the memory.
As the centre helped my family personally, Ross and I have decided to take on this challenge in memory in my Grandmother, Phyllis Bond, and to support the Peggy Dodd centre to continue it's good work.
Thank you for visiting our page - I hope you can support us both.
