Story

As I decided to be stupid enough to try to stay up for 24 hours next weekend and take part in the Blogothon 2007 I thought I'd do it to raise funds for a charity close to my heart - The Cats Protection League. On Saturday July 28th  I will be attempting to post something (other than just photographs and gibberish) on my blog  Big Fish Little Fish Cardboard Box (http://abigfishlittlefishcardboardbox.blogspot.com) every 30 mins for 24 hours, starting at 2pm Saturday afternoon, uk time.

This should be quite a challenge, not just staying awake for 24 hours and being able to write anything that makes sense but I also have to go to work for at least 3 hours of it, still that's what laptops and dial up were invented for! It's an idea born in America but I like the challenge and the money is donated straight to the charities (or through pages such as this one) in the currency of your choice so it doesn't really matter where in the world you are. The money I collect may be going to the kitties in the UK but if you like cats you'll be really helping them out if you sponsor me.

They do a great job looking after and rehoming unwanted or lost cats all over the UK. Formed in 1927, Cats Protection (CP) has grown to become the UK's leading feline welfare charity. They now care for and find new homes for around 60,000 cats and kittens every year, through their network of 29 Adoption Centres and 260 voluntary-run Branches.

Cats Protection vision is to ensure that every cat is given the chance of a life where it will be treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs

They also seek to alleviate the problem of unwanted cats, by offering information and advice about responsible cat ownership and promoting the benefits of neutering. So even if you don't like cats, a donation could help to get those strays off of your vegetable patch and help a cat in the process!

Our own feline housemate - Smodge came to live with us via the Basingstoke Cats Protection League so this fundraising page is here to try to give them a little help in funding more homes and caring for the unwanted cats in the UK.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cats Protection will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
