Story
On the 9th June 2013 we shall be running in the 10km Two Castlse Run http://www.twocastlesrun.org.uk to raise money for the Leamington & Warwick Khalsa Aid water for Africa Appeal.
As part of the Leamington and Warwick “Khalsa Aid” project team we are asking for your help in the “Water 4 Africa appeal”.
The aim is to raise £20,000 for an end to end project to provide a clean water supply for a community in Kenya.
The people of a small village in the district of Kajiado south of Nairobi, Kenya have to collect water from 10km away. There are over 1000 people and over 2000 livestock in this village. Last year Khalsa Aid delivered over 100 Tons of aid to this drought affected region and decided to look at a more long term sustainable project.
This is a very costly project hence why many organisations do not get involved but the with your help the people of this village will have guaranteed water for themselves and their livestock. This will ease many of the difficulties for the people who are in the high-risk drought zone. The total cost for this project is estimated to be around £15K to £17K however, the final total depends on the depth of good water.
Thank you for taking time to read my challenge and aim.
