A big thanks to everyone who spared some change at the turnstiles. we raised £460.92!

The Morecambe Fc Club captain, Jim Bentley also did a dressing room whip round and handed me another £100!!!

An excellent win for the shrimps rounded off a great day!

NEWSFLASH!

Morecambe Football Club have been kind enough to give permission for a match day collection at the Home game against Bradford on Good friday, April 10th and hopefully your generosity will help me boost my fundraising towards my total of £1600 of which I have so far raised over half. See you at the turnstiles!

15th March 2009

Took part in the trimpell 20, a 20 mile race around the local area, finished in 2hr 53min!

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. And a special thanks to all that have made a contribution already !

Anyone who knows me from when I was at school will remember me being quite chubby, I hated running, I always ended up last or very near to last everytime we did a cross country at Morecambe High. The Sports teacher would make the five or so that finished at the back, run another lap. It was almost a form of torture and caused me to develop a real oversion to running! they probably won't believe that I'm actually in training for and on course for a sub 4hr time In the London Marathon 2009!

I started running to keep fit about 18 months ago and although I could only do a couple of miles at a time at first, I stuck with it and soon found myself managing and really enjoying runs upwards of 5 miles. After taking part in my first race, the Manchester 10km last year in aid of Leukemia Research, I really caught the running bug! To be able to raise money for a worthwhile charity whilst doing something I really enjoy is a hugh bonus!

In preparing for this hugh challenge I have completed over 600 miles of training, running 5 times a week without fail through wind, rain, sleet, snow, in fact one of the worst winters in years and in the process losing around 2 stone in weight, all to get myself prepared for the 26.2 mile course around the Capital. All of this will be worthwhile when I cross the finish line knowing that the money I’ve raised will directly benefit the lives of people who rely on Leonard Cheshire.

So please, please, please, please sponsor me! It is a really worthy cause and unlike some of the higher profile charities they don't have as many places so the more I can raise for them the better! any amount however big or small is very much appreciated, even £2 is a step closer to my target.

Thankyou

Paul.
