Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I've always dreamed of trekking to Machu Picchu on the Inca Trail.  Now I've got the opportunity to do so for a fabulous cause.  The trek will also allow me to get fit again following an operation on both of my feet.

20 December 09 - I've written a book about my Inca Trail adventures.  You can find it at www.blurb.com, search for "Sindberg" in the bookstore.  The profits from book sales go to Classic FM Music Makers ... and it's a pretty nice book, too!

30 October 09 - Just back from my trek and my extended visit to Argentina afterwards.  ALL of the trekkers finished the trek, thanks to the excellent services of DiscoverAdventure (the UK tour company), SASTravelPeru (the on-site trekking company), and the support and love of the whole group.  We raised a lot of money but more is always needed for this VERY good cause.  Please continue to donate.  Thanks to all.

2 July 09 - over the top as far as my goal is concerned now that I've collected the auction bids.  But that's no reason to stop fund raising.  I'm trying to get still more.  Thanks to everyone who has donated so far.  And to everyone who hasn't yet donated - there's no time like the present to help this great cause.

26 June 09 - AMAZING charity dinner last night.  Raised >£1,000 at the auction, about £200 via the raffle and about £500 from dinner proceeds.  Wow!  Thanks to everyone who helped to make the night a success with special thanks to Orly at Cafe Strudel, Myrto and Greg for the music, and all my Twitter pals and VividLondon friends who made the night terrific.  What good news for Music Makers.

24 June 09 - Charity dinner is tomorrow night.  We've got a "decent" number of reservations but could use lots more.  On-line bids for auction items are good so we'll have a nice place to start the bidding.  Raffle tickets are selling well.  BUT the upgrade to the JustGiving website is giving me and my supporters fits.  The site crashes time after time and it's difficult to make a donation. This is NOT helping.

21 June 09 - 10 mile hike Saturday up the Hugheden Valley with 4 dogs.  The dogs played in every puddle.  Tired afterwards but the feet were ok, not great, but ok.  Can I do this for 4 days straight on the trek?

28 April 09 - Starting to send out announcements for my charity dinner on 25 June 09.  Another fund raising deadline coming up.  Please give generously.

17 April 09 - Finally got the menu for my fund raising dinner on 25 June 09.  It's at Cafe Strudel in Richmond and will be amazing.  Super food, lovely music entertainment (baroque and opera), plus some terrific prizes for the auction and raffle.

13 April 09 - Went for a 5 mile hike with my friends and their dog in the Hugheden Valley.  What a lovely day!  The hike was like knock-out drops, however.  I could barely keep my eyes open after dinner.

12 Mar 09 - The trekking group did a "practice" trek last weekend at Box Hill in Surrey.  NOT easy!  I did struggle a bit so I know I've got to work really hard to improve my fitness.  And I've got to get my orthotics changed so they don't bite my feet any more.

Classic FM Music Makers is a great charity, using music to help people of all kinds.
