On September 1 I will take off as part of RaceTeam "Switzerland" in the Clipper around the world Ocean Sailing Race!
Six Weeks of offshore racing, combined with a truly international crew (13 nations) through the rough weather of the Biskaya and wind holes of the Doldrums. More than 4500 miles of sailing are ahead!
In order to make this also a challenge on a different level - I aim to raise at least HKD 10/ EUR 1 for every mile i am about to sail for dZi, a charity that supports remote communities in Nepal. Having just been myself for an extensive period in Nepal, I can totally understand how most of the communities, especially those off the tourist trails need support.
dZi Foundation is currently serving over 26,000 Nepali's in an extremely remote area of eastern Nepal. The project areas are a 5 or 6 day walk from the nearest road.
Details about dZi can be found at
http://dzifoundation.org/. dZi delivers impact efficiently due to their very unique implementation strategy. What does dZi do? Firstly, it is very remote work. dZi partners with the communities to build bridges, schools, sanitation, drinking water systems, and to increase agricultural output. The word “partner” is the key in the previous sentence. dZi never works with a community without being officially invited by the people. Generally, dZi would commit to giving technical advice and building supplies with a value of ~$500 and the community would commit to transporting the supplies to their town and providing the manpower to build the structure. Yes, it is a 1 for 1 matching. dZi investment generally starts at only about $500 per project, so every dollar or pound pledged counts!
Due to a unique matching system by the Connors family trust and two other family every donation would be multiplied by 4x!!!
So you sponsor HKD 500/ EUR 50 -> HKD 2000/ EUR 200 is being received by dZi. So simple!!
Thanks for all your generous support!
