Death toll currently stands at over 10,000+ people and 22,000+ injured, WHO estimate figures are likely to increase
On Monday 6th February whist many were asleep a deadly 7.8 magnitude earthquake followed 12 hours later by a second 7.5 magnitude tremor struck Turkey and Syria, the subsequent tremors were felt by millions across the region
Authorities, civilians and aid workers are racing against time to save children and families trapped beneath rubble, whilst tackling severe aftershocks. Over 5,775 buildings, complete neighborhoods and infrastructure have been destroyed. This is one of the deadliest earthquakes on record in the region, the severity caused due to the earthquake originating only 11 miles from the surface
Survivors are in critical condition and are in desperate need of help as temperatures drop and rescue attempts are hindered by rain and snow
