Thom's London Marathon for New Vic Theatre's work with older people

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
Times are tough and there are a lot of very well-deserving causes that need financial support at the moment. I'm asking you if you could spare £10, no more, to sponsor my marathon in aid of the New Vic, its Open House friendship cafe and the Dementia and Creativity Group.
I started as a trustee on the Charity Board of the New Vic theatre last year and since then have been blown away by the brilliant work of this organisation. This theatre doesn't just put on plays. Its education and outreach work reaches all ages and backgrounds. It's truly embedded at the heart of its community.
Almost 1 million people in the UK live with dementia, and loneliness and social isolation is common for older people.
The New Vic brings people living with dementia and their carers to the theatre building and helps them to socialise and engage. It's transformative.
“This is the only time during the week that I laugh.” (Jean, Open House)
“Don't know what I would have done without this group and people. You always have someone you can talk to about things. You can say what you want to say and not feel embarrassed.” (Creativity & Dementia participant)
This essential work needs continued funding and so I'm running 26.2 miles on 27th April to raise a little extra to keep it going. Thank you for reading and thanks for your support!
