Story

10km RACE COMPLETE 🚒

Thanks to everyone for the support and donations in aid of the Fire Fighter Charity. I completed the race in 65:50 👨‍🚒 a massive thanks to Chloe Upton, Jim Barker and my dad for running the race along side me. We have raised an unbelievable amount of money and am really proud to have helped raise not only money but awareness to such a fantastic charity. Finally a big thanks to the Shropshire Fire Brigade for supporting me and allowing me to run in my full kit and a big thanks to all my colleagues at Oswestry Fire Station for the additional support. More photos to come soon!

Hi, my name is Connor Beardmore and I am a Fire Fighter at Oswestry Fire Station and a proud member of the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.

On the 15th of October, I'll be taking on the Oswestry 10km race while fully suited up in firefighting gear, from my helmet, full suit and down to the breathing apparatus harness and cylinders (18kg). The firefighting kit we use is truly state-of-the-art, and it's incredibly effective when it comes to battling fires. It's designed to protect us from extreme heat, flames, and hazardous conditions, which is absolutely fantastic for our safety on the job. However, this advanced gear also adds a significant challenge when running a 10km race.

My motivation behind this endeavour lies in my unwavering dedication to our firefighting community, not just in Shropshire but across the country as a whole. As a Fire Fighter in Oswestry I've witnessed firsthand the challenges we face in our line of duty. Running the Oswestry 10km race in full firefighting gear is a symbolic gesture of the physical and mental demands Fire Fighters encounter daily. By raising funds for the Fire Fighter Charity, I hope to provide vital support to fellow firefighters and their families during times of need. It's a way for me to give back to the community that I'm so proud to be a part of and ensure that this essential charity can continue its crucial work.

Many thanks for taking the time to read about the challenge I am undertaking and supporting such and amazing cause.
