Story
Our Dad, Paul Burns Snr, would have had his 70th birthday on 26th May 2023. Dad was very sadly diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer in 2009, and he died at the age of only 61 in 2014.
To say Dad had a zest for life and willingness to try anything is an understatement! He packed so many experiences, careers and hobbies into his 61 years and he had such a wide circle of wonderful friends and family. He was so interested in people and their stories, and was the life and soul of the party!
Birthdays were always celebrated by him in a big way, which is why we’re certain he would have gone all out for his big 70th. To follow in his footsteps, we want to fundraise for the charity that did so much for him and for us during his illness. Our family are going to walk from Belfast City Hospital, where he was treated, to the family home in Carrigart, Donegal - a distance of approximately 130 miles, following the coastline of the north. We leave at 8.30am on Saturday 1st July, from the front doors of the Cancer Centre, and all being well, we'll arrive in Carrigart on Saturday 8th July! Lots of our friends and family are joining us for stretches along the way; we'd love your company and craic (especially for the first and last days) if you'd like to come too! You can contact us on our social media pages if you want to join us. Thank you so much for your support!
