Story
The University of East Anglia’s student radio station, Livewire1350, return with their annual Christmas Single.
The station, that’s been running on the Norwich campus since 1990, asks members to contribute their voices (good or not!) to a festive hit to raise money for charity.
This year, Livewire collaborated with UEA’s Music Production Society, to write the first original song - “Spread the Joy.”
The song is raising money for the Norfolk Community Foundation, and their Nourishing Norfolk initiative.
Alongside the release of the single, Livewire have also been encouraging societies and sports clubs to put together hampers of Christmas commodities, to be handed out by the Foundation.
Billie Lawler (she/her) is the Nourishing Norfolk Network Coordinator:
With the Nourishing Norfolk Network supporting over 8000 families (24000 people) currently, we know many of them will struggle with Christmas festivities. The gifts for children, treats, a Christmas Dinner are just not in their budgets - not taking part in festivities can make people feel isolated, ashamed and "Less than".
Many of our families are routinely choosing between heating or eating, many parents are going without a proper, nutritious main meal so that their children can eat well.
Donations of any kind go such a long way to helping those families to make a Christmas to remember. And we all need those happy moments don't we?
So on behalf of the Affordable Food hubs across Norfolk - a heartfelt thank you to you all. And Merry Christmas!!
The song is releasing on all major platforms, and all royalties will be donated to the page.
