Story
Those who know me know that I love to walk, but this year I'm really challenging myself by covering 1500 miles in 12 months, including walking nearly 600m across the north of Spain this May & June to support Regeneration International.
You're unlikely to have heard of them, but Regeneration International are working to promote regenerative agriculture, a method of farming which can save our planet and people by saving our soils. Not an idea many of us are familiar with, but there is growing support for the science behind it all. By regenerating the soil, we can not only increase quality food production but also reverse the negative effects of climate change, improve water quality, improve biodiversity and create more resilient communities around the world. It seems a big ask from that stuff that we walk on and think of as dirty, but it's got huge potential.
I really believe that this is a cause worth supporting, which is why I've chosen them and I'm asking for your help. By sponsoring my walking challenge, you can help Regeneration International continue their important work and inspire others to get involved.
I started walking in Aug 22 and so far, my journey has not been without challenges (anaemia and inflamed Achilles membranes). I've discovered new trails, met interesting people, and pushed myself harder than ever before. I've also had to force myself to get out and walk when it's peeing it down, when I'm tired and when I plain just don't feel like it. But at least I know that with every step, I'm doing something to contribute to a better future for our planet.
If you're interested in supporting my walking challenge and helping Regeneration International, please consider making a donation today. Together, we can create a healthier, more sustainable world for generations to come. Isn't that a nice thing to look forward to?
If this has piqued your interest and you're now wondering how soil is so important and can have this much power to change our world, check out this blog post... It's really quite amazing.
I also have a more detailed post about my year of walking (what and why) and some updates on my journey here... if you want to read along. I will also be posting updates on Facebook and Instagram
