Story
2023 has been totally unimaginable, totally devasting and life changing for all of the wrong reasons - we couldn’t have got through this without the love and support of our friends and family.
On the 10th January 2023, Oscar was delivered at home. After losing Oscar, when we were sitting holding each in the Benson Suite, within Salisbury Hospital we both agreed that we had to try again.
For once we seemed to have some luck and Els soon became pregnant and we started to have some nervous excitement – we knew the pregnancy was doing to be harder than with Oscar. However, on the 24th November 2023 at 35 weeks our world had just fallen apart again – Sophie was also delivered sleeping.
Emotions ran high with the teams at Salisbury, nobody could believe we were in the same situation again…. 10th Jan 2023 and 24th November 2023 will always days etched on our hearts. The medical teams at Salisbury & The Benson Suite (Stuart, Stef, Beckie to name a few) – have been so supportive.
The support we have received from our family and friends has been second to none – your donations go to a charity who have helped us and continue to support us in our time of need. Thankyou so much for your support.

We start at around 4.30am on Sunday 23rd June 2024 and hope to be finished around 9pm. Please come and support us.
The Stars Appeal ‘Benson Suite’ at Salisbury Hospital provides a dedicated, private space for local families who sadly experience the death of their baby at Salisbury District Hospital. The Suite helps ensure the very short time these families can spend together is as precious, dignified, and personal as possible. 1 in 250 babies are born sleeping, over 2000 babies are born each day in the UK, 1 every two to three hours is born sleeping.
The support that we have received from the medical services (which include the ambulance teams, emergency doctors, local maternity team and especially the Salisbury maternity team) has been second to none. Sadly, nothing could be done – both Oscar and Sophie were born ‘sleeping’.
Please help support this wonderful charity.
Neal & Els Riley
