Thank you for taking time to visit our just giving page.
As many of you know, our Dad Reid heartbreakingly passed away in January 2015 from sudden cardiac death.
Dad was an avid runner, always training for something and he cited The Great North Run as one of his running accolades, which he completed many times.
So, in a fitting tribute, Rachel and I have agreed to run The Great North Run this year to acknowledge the 10th anniversary of his passing and to help raise money for The British Heart Foundation.
Whilst there has been a decline in the number of deaths due to sudden cardiac death over the past several decades, there are still approximately 100,000 deaths per year in the UK caused by sudden cardiac death.
Only 1 in 10 survive if treated outside the hospital environment and 1 in 25 cases have no definitive cause of death.
The BHF fund over £100 million of lifesaving research into heart and circulatory diseases each year, they have helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like you that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist.
The money you help raise has the power to help heal hearts and bring hope to hundreds of thousands of people in the UK living with heart failure. That’s special.
Rachel and I will be smashing those miles up for our Dad, we appreciate your generosity and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
