Story
I've grown a love for open water swimming since 2019 when I discovered it was a great way of getting outdoors and experiencing the buzz of immersing yourself in cold water!
It's helped me with a lot of challenges in my life, offering a place I can go to take my thoughts and stresses of life and leave them at the shore.
In 2024 I took it to the next level and swum the Fal Estury from Falmouth to St Mawes for the RNLI.
But for 2025, I wanted to do something bigger and so along with the help of my relay team, I'll be swimming the English Channel from Dover to somewhere in France!
This challenge will require months of preparation, many hours of open water swimming (more than I currently do) as well as requiring me to get over my fear of jellyfish! 🪼 🫣
I'm doing the swim in aid of SwimTayka who help to prevent drowning incidents by providing swimming lessons for disadvantages people.
Drowning is the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide, claiming an estimated 360,000 lives every year, many of them children.
SwimTayka wants to give disadvantaged communities around the world access to swimming teachers who can not only provide the life skills of swimming but create a legacy for today's children, who will grow up to teach the next generation.
