OK, this one is a strange one. On the 26th April at one minute past midnight I'll be lining up on the finish line of the London Marathon. Yes, the finish line. And along with something like 500 like minded individuals we will be following the official London Marathon course overnight back to the start line before the real marathon runners set off at some time around 9am. This is my fiftieth orbit round the sun, so I'm doing something to commemorate it.

For the past year or so I've been volunteering a the Highland Hospice and I've met some truly lovely people. As the only hospice serving adults across the Highlands, their palliative and end-of-life care services have been a vital source of comfort and support for patients, their families and our communities since 1987.

The hospice increases quality of life by reducing pain and suffering, enabling patients and their families to make the most of the precious time they have left together
