Story

The Gloucestershire NHS Rheumatology team is passionate about providing the highest level of care to the patients who use our service. Charitable grants from GAT have and continue to help our team to realise this aim.

For example, earlier in 2023 GAT provided £1,967 worth of Study Grants to support the professional educational development of our nursing team. This enables them to provide the most evidence-based and up-to-date care for our patients.

Consequently, as a team, we would like to support GAT's fundraising efforts for the future benefit of our patients and have set ourselves an initial target of £2,000 with our "Ramble4Rheum" campaign that will fund future Study Grants.

The eight person team of Jess Gunn, Sarah Hickey, Safwan Jamal, Jo Morrison, James Peirce, Dan Clark, Sarah Fishlock and Alison Eamer took on the 21-mile Stroud 5 Valleys walk on Sunday, September 24th 2023 and raised £2,786.73 (inc Gift Aid) - smashing their £2,000 target. But donations have continued to come in and revised total, as at Thursday December 14th, was £3,755 with more to come in 2024 and beyond.

Mollie Wise, from Bourton-on-the-Water has held 3 coffee mornings with 50% of any money raised going to support this campaign which clearly showed her community was right behind this team. Her fundraising contributed £552 to our total.

Because we paid out even more study grants in 2024, the GAT Secretary, Steve Morton, has kept this site open for others who want to either donate or maybe take on a sponsored walk at a later date, which was what Mollie Wise has continued to do by selling GAT cards around her home village of Bourton-on-the-Water during the year and raising another £771 - which she sent to us in late August 2024.
