Woodside Animal Centre (RSPCA Leicestershire Branch) rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes hundreds of neglected and abandoned animals each year. They receive no funding from the government or the central RSPCA, relying on the generous support of the public and local businesses to keep the centre running. I work there 2 days a week so see first-hand the amazing work that goes on and the distressing state that some of the animals arrive in.
