In June 2024, a group of us (George, Toby, Levi, Fin, Tom & Lewis) will be attempting the 24hr National Three Peaks Challenge in aid of the Ronald McDonald House Charity, specifically the Oxford House at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

On the 7th October 2017 George and his family had originally left home to pick up some lunch. He had been unwell for a couple of weeks suffering from severe headaches, unfortunately the situation took a very serious turn which initially required being rushed to Northampton General Hospital, and following scans was then blue-lighted to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for immediate emergency brain surgery. His parents therefore found themselves unexpectedly in Oxford for the first of twelve days. During this time they were supported by the Ronald McDonald House initially through laundry and shower facilities and a few days after arrival they were lucky enough to be offered a private room.

The Ronald McDonald House's provide free ‘home away from home’ accommodation to families with children having treatment in hospital.

The House's offer much more than just a place to stay; they provide families with peer support, respite, and many other services. This means that families can be by their child’s bedside in a matter of moments, whilst maintaining a degree of normal life with reduced emotional and financial strain.

The charity help over 6,000 families each year through there 14 houses across the UK. As with George's family, charities such as Ronald McDonald House suddenly become a huge part of their life in unexpected circumstances.

We will be walking up the highest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) & Wales (Snowden). Aiming to reach the foot of Snowden within 24 hours of starting at Ben Nevis. Over 23 miles of walking, over 3000 metres total ascent and 462 miles between the mountains. So a lot of training will be needed!
