Late on one night last year, a dog walker spotted kittens abandoned in an ikea bag down a country road. Milton Keynes and District Cats Protection volunteers were alerted of this late one night, around 10pm, they all rose to the occasion heading out to the area to find them. When volunteers arrived, five kittens were found inside, along with a very frightened mum cat hiding in bushes nearby. They were unable to catch mum as she ran off scared. It took two days of round the clock work for the volunteers to successfully, and safely catch mum in a trap and bring her to care where she was reunited with her kittens.

Once the kittens and mum were in our care, we had them all checked over by the vet, on average we estimate it cost £150 for each cat’s vet fees.

We cared for them, while watching them grow to become lovely kittens ready to be adopted. This story has a happy ending, all five the kittens and mum all found loving homes, but sadly this is not always the case. Some cats are not so lucky, some come into us just too late to help, or with injures which needs months of treatment.
