Story
Hi! I'm Liz @savethebreastforlast
I am one of the lucky individuals taking on the charity trek to the Indian Himalayas this November in aid of CoppaFeel!
CoppaFeel! are the first UK breast cancer charity to create awareness amongst young people, with the aim to instil a new healthy behaviour that could one day save a life. They are on a mission to ensure breast cancer is diagnosed early and correctly by getting the nation to check their boobs/chest regularly. They want to educate people on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, encourage them to get to know what is normal for them and empower young people to have the confidence to see a doctor if they notice anything that isn't right for them.
I owe my life to this charity, as it was thanks to their Instagram campaign that I caught my own breast cancer in its early stages when my long awaited miracle baby was just 4 months old!
Unfortunately this was not my first experience of 'The Big C'. I was also diagnosed with a stage 4 kidney tumour when I was just 15 years old, so I know only too well how scary and upsetting a cancer diagnosis can be.
When my lovely Dad passed away last year I made him 2 promises. First, I would take him with me on all of life's adventures and second, that I would make him proud, and this trek is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me to do just that!
I want to do this for anyone who has ever lost a loved one far too soon, been told the devastating news that they have cancer and for anyone that is battling with the grueling side effects of chemotherapy.
My aim is to raise £9000 in sponsorship to trek for 9 hours a day for 5 days straight in the Indian Himalayas with 120 other people affected by this devastating disease.
This trek is going to push me out of my comfort zone. I know it will not be easy and it will test me physically, mentally and emotionally. So, if you can spare any £1's (no matter how small!) in sponsorship I would be extremely grateful. Please also join me on this life affirming challenge as I post updates on Instagram using the name @savethebreastforlast.
Thank you so much
Liz
