Story
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.
My 5 year old son received life saving surgery to successfully remove his brain tumour last year. Over the past 12 months it’s really surprised me how many people at work have been affected by this awful illness. Raising awareness of the symptoms to help towards a faster diagnosis is vital.
Common symptoms include:
Headaches (fits)
Persistently feeling or being sick (often worse in the morning)
Drowsiness
Mental or behavioural changes
Changes in personality
Progressive weakness or paralysis on one side of the body
Speech or vision problems
Symptoms often develop slowly and as they are similar to lots of other illnesses they can be miss-diagnosed. If you’re concerned please see a GP. Your GP can refer you directly for an MRI if you have more than one symptom.
If you are able to donate something small that would make a huge difference. But more importantly please be aware of the symptoms for yourself and your loved ones.
