Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Back in July 2012 my twin baby boys were born. Right from that very early 7 week scan which detected not 1 but 2 beating hearts I was in absolute shock! I remember physically shaking & the anxious but oh so exciting journey began. A Multiple pregnancy is never straightforward & so much can go wrong at any point, thankfully you are scanned far more often than a singleton pregnancy to put your mind at ease but you are also prodded & poked a fair amount more too! I was physically sick at least once a day, every day for 9 months at one point struggling to keep even water down, but at the same time feeling strangely blooming & enjoying quite literally the best experience of my life. 💕 Sickness aside I had a pretty smooth pregnancy & the boys went to full term (for twins) & were born half an hour before my 36th birthday.....what a gift. The Twins Trust have been there from the beginning offering help, guidance & advice to us both as new parents of 2 babies. Whether that be sleep routines, feeding schedules, available support groups both local & nationwide, or just advice about how to leave the house for the first time with two tiny humans!
I have also fostered 2 sets of twins!
The Twins Trust were beyond helpful & knowledgeable when my boys reached school age & I chose to wait until they were officially five before starting school instead of only 4 & a half. This choice/decision would have been impossible on my own, it was only achievable with the right help & support, to enable me to know my rights & the rights of my children with regards to their education. I will always be grateful for the support I received to achieve this. Subsequently I chose to run the Great North Run on behalf of this wonderful charity to help raise funds & awareness of them, I also wrote an article for the Twins Trust magazine to share our experience & story. I have been fortunate enough to be offered a place for them in this year's London Marathon. It's a last minute place with only a 7/8 week training timeline ahead & it's certainly going to be a challenge but why wouldn't I do it? 🙈 & as someone who passed me during the Great North Run shouted out " this should be a walk in the park for you love if you've got Twins!!" 😂👍🏃 I'm not sure it will quite be that but I'm certainly going to give it my best shot & share some wonderful publicity & acknowledgement for this very worthy charity. Thank you for reading. 💗 xx
