Story

Hi, I’m Jo and I work as Consultant Anaesthetist at Worcester Acute Hospitals Trust.

Running the London Marathon has always been on my bucket list and I have been lucky enough to secure a place in the ballot!! This year was the first time in history that over 840,000 people entered the ballot for the Marathon, so I am really thrilled to have this opportunity. I will be taking on the course from Greenwich to Westminster on Sunday 27th April for the 45th London Marathon.

Whilst I'm trying to convince myself that I'm looking forward to the challenge of running 26.1 miles, I needed to find a worthy cause to raise money for.

For the past 2 years I have been working hard to establish a service for children to have MRI scans under general anaesthetic at Kidderminster Hospital. The facilities at Kidderminster will allow the Trust to provide a child centred dedicated MRI service. This will enable children to have their scans at a local hospital, rather than having to travel to Birmingham.

The service will be opening in the Summer, but to support the service we will need additional equipment such as an MRI compatible patient trolley. So, I am running the marathon in support of raising the funds to purchase an MRI trolley, which will cost £8160.
