On Friday the 4th of October 2024, S6 pupils and staff from Largs Academy will be taking part in a sponsored 5K along Largs prom to raise money for Mary's Meals.

Mary's Meals is an international charity that sets up school feeding programmes in some of the world's poorest communities, where hunger and poverty prevent children from gaining an education. They now feed more than 2.4 million children every school day. It costs just £19.15 to feed a child for an entire school year, so even small donations can have a huge impact.

Free meals attract hungry children into the classroom. The food gives students the energy and opportunity to learn, giving them the chance of a brighter future and a path out of poverty.

Wherever possible, Mary's Meals serves locally produced food, which supports local communities and their farmers.
