Story
I’m taking on one of the toughest challenges of my life and I’m doing it for children who don’t get to choose theirs.
My name is Kris Canning and I’ve committed myself to completing the 4 Extremes Ultra Challenges. Using the mindset and abilities I was taught in the Shaolin Temple to run the coldest, hottest, lowest and highest ultra marathons on Earth.
I’ve already completed the highest, the Khardung La Ultra: A 72km run at 5,300m in the Himalayas, battling altitude, exhaustion and some serious doubts. It pushed me to my limits, but it also showed me what’s possible when you have a purpose bigger than yourself.
Next, I’m taking on the coldest:
The Mongol 100 - a 100-mile ultra across the completely frozen Lake Khövsgöl in Mongolia.
Temperatures are between -20 to -40°C.
It’s one of the coldest endurance races in the world, and the environment is so extreme it’s as much a survival mission as it is a run.
I’m doing this challenge to raise money for Children With Cancer UK, a charity that supports children and families facing something far harder than any ultra marathon. These kids are fighting battles they never asked for and their courage puts everything into perspective for me.
When I’m training in the cold, exhausted, or questioning why I’m doing this, I remind myself:
their pain isn’t optional, mine is.
If I can turn my miles, discomfort and determination into something that genuinely helps children and families going through the unimaginable, then every step is worth it.
Your donation will support families during the most frightening times in their lives. Any amount truly makes a difference.
Thank you so much for being part of this journey.
Together, we can turn an extreme challenge into real impact.
