Last year I was rushed into hospital after having an extremely low heart rate, It resulted in me having a pacemaker fitted but if things had gone differently I could have easily ended up as one of the 12 young people that die each week from undiagnosed heart conditions. I am doing this challenge because I want to prove to myself and others what I can do and I also want to spread awareness and raise funds for the British Heart Foundation to continue doing research into helping minimise the number of young people that are dying from cardiac conditions each week.

“Heart disease has impacted my family massively. My Grandad the head of the family my role model suffered with heart complications for 19 years. Having 5 heart bypasses and 2 pacemakers before sadly losing his battle.This personally took a big toll on me. My parents had me at a young age and were both working on progressing in their careers. So my Grandparents played a massive role in raising me. Spending every evening and holidays with them. My Grandad helped me whenever needed, supported me with both education and rugby.It’s only now as I’m older I look back and realise how hard it must have been for him after suffering the way he did to support me as much as he did. Standing in the rain watching me play rugby, picking me up from school and cooking for me soon after his operations.So for me personally this means a lot, heart research helped to extend his life by 9 years. Meaning I got to have 9 more years of memories with him. So this is why I’m supporting the BHF to help other people extend their lives and their families to continue to create happy times”
