Story
I am running the Edinburgh Marathon this May to fundraise for Brain Tumour Research. I have decided this charity as it is one that has a personal touch for myself and my family.
My auntie Sarah was diagnosed with a brain tumour in February 2018. It was identified that Sarah had a Tentorial Meningioma on the left side of the brain which measured 4.2cm x 1.9cm and due to the location and size of this it is unable to be removed. She was told that it had been growing for 10+ years and was caused by an impact injury.
As a result of the tumour Sarah suffers with fatigue, forgetfulness/confusion and seizures. As a family this has been very difficult to come to terms with and as a result Sarah and her family have now had to adapt her lifestyle to cope with all these things.
Another reason for choosing this charity is my uncle Nigel, Sarah's husband. We talked about one day completing a half marathon to raise money for brain tumour research. Nigel began running and we would send each other our runs on Strava in the hope we would one day achieve our goal. In July 2023, my uncle sadly lost his battle with cancer and our goal disappeared.
I have now decided to finish what we started and run a marathon to raise money for a special cause. £2740 can fund a full day of research so every donation means a lot.
Please help me fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.
