our WW2 veterans need you!

Fundraising for Taxi Charity For Military Veterans
£110,717
raised of £100,000 target
D-Day, 1 June 2024
We take military veterans on trips in taxis to offer them comfort and enjoyment.

Story

I am raising money to get ten WW2 veterans back to the beaches of Normandy for the D-Day 80th anniversary on June 6th 2024.

This may well be the last big event to commemorate our WW2 heroes whilst they are still here with us.

Sadly, there is not enough funds to fulfil their dreams of going back meaning many will be left out of the trip, this has taken a massive tole on their moral with one old veteran crying and telling me he feels worthless.

I have personally paid for many events for our veterans but now I am asking for YOUR help to donate and get as many people to donate as possible to show the veterans how MANY of us still care about them.

We only have this month to raise it all so I need us, the Great British public to come together and smash pass this target!

It will show them that we still remember them, we will and our future generations will remember them long after they are gone and we will remember the millions of young brave soldiers who died fighting to liberate Europe and defend the culture and values of our Island home, Great Britain.

Dorothea Baron, Les Hammond, Doug Baldwin, Don Turrell and Mervyn Kersh are just a few of names of the heroic soldiers that want to return back to the beaches.

So please donate and share this with as many people as you can, even if you donate just £1, it shows you care.

Here is a little video of a few of those heroes.

All funds will go to the taxi charity for military veterans. This will cover the costs of accommodation, travel, medical assistants and more. Any excess funds will be used towards more events for our veterans in the future.

P.S. Thank you for putting up with Grammar, I write from my heart not a dictionary :)

About the charity

The Taxi Charity For Military Veterans (formerly known as the London Taxi Benevolent Association For War Disabled) was formed in Fulham in 1948. Its object then was to help war veterans, in their homes and hospitals, throughout London and the home counties, by providing entertainment, outings and much needed specialised equipment. Our aim now is simple: to work for the benefit, comfort and enjoyment of military veterans, to the best of our ability. For our annual Worthing outing, we now collect veterans from all over London, including the Royal Hospital Chelsea and other Veterans' Homes, as well as those who still live in their own homes. This amounts to over 300 ex-service men and women and over 130 taxis. In order to fund these outings, we seek donations from the general public and organisations, and we rely on volunteer London licensed taxi drivers to provide their taxis and time for free.
