Story
Thanks for visiting my page!
This April, I will be running the length of the UK (John O'Groats to Lands End) with the aim of raising some money for Diabetes UK.
The run is planned over 27 days from April 1st to April 27th (2024). I'll be aiming to complete this challenge with 1 rest day (my birthday).
EDIT: due to my poor route planning- this run may now total around 1,400km. The time frame remains unchanged, but this eliminates doubling back on myself daily and running East-West more than I need to. Total distance remains unconfirmed until one week out from Land’s End :)
EDIT EDIT: we’re back to 1600km ;)
I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 11 years old. Whilst I've been fortunate enough to have reasonable control of the condition since diagnosis, thus minimal impact on my day-to-day life, many have not. Diabetes UK does an absolutely marvelous job at empowering those with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes to take control of their condition. I'm hoping that my completion of this challenge empowers somebody, somewhere, to push their body to its limits and see what it's capable of.
To my knowledge, I will be the first Type 1 Diabetic to ever complete this challenge.
