Story
Alzheimer’s Society are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today and by providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding ground-breaking research.
I’m taking on Trek26 in honour of three close family members we lost to dementia: my nanna, my uncle, and my mother‑in‑law. I was a close carer, especially for my mother‑in‑law, and watching each of them slowly disappear was heartbreaking. They were all strong, determined people with so much fight in them, and dementia took so much; but never once did they forget who I was. I believe deeply in the power of connection, whether through touch, music, old photographs, shared memories or familiar songs. Those moments stay with our loved ones in ways we can’t always see. I’m raising money because I want to help fund the science, support, and hope that will one day lead to a cure or prevent this devastating disease. Every step of this 26‑mile trek is for them, and for every family facing dementia today.
Thank you for choosing to trek for Alzheimer's Society, together we can be help and hope to everyone affected by dementia.
