Story
I'm Isabelle, I'm 14 years old and currently training towards my Private Pilots License (PPL). I learn to fly at Shropshire Aero Club and am also part of the British Women Pilots Association (BWPA).
The BWPA have just set their Chairwoman's' Challenge, and the theme is Colours of the Rainbow. As a Pilot In Training I am eligible to take part so have come up with a plan.
My local school is part of an Academy Trust called The Marches Academy Trust. The schools within the trust have different colour logos and I am able to match these against the colours of the rainbow. My plan is to head from Shropshire Aero Club, navigate my way to each school site and fly the shape of a Rainbow over the school. I hope to do them in colour order but this is going to be dependant on weather conditions and air traffic restrictions along the way.
This challenge takes me out of my comfort zone and has meant I've had to start getting to grips with navigational skills before I have actually reached that stage of my training. I really wanted to do this though so here we are.
I decided it would be a lovely idea to involve a charity in my plan. Hope House is a local charity based in Shropshire. In fact, their base is in Oswestry, the same town that is the home of our school Academy Trust. Not only are they are wonderful and extremely worthwhile charity, but their logo features beautiful, bright Colours of the Rainbow - a great way to bring the theme of the challenge together.
I would be so grateful for any donations towards this challenge. I'm so excited to be able to fly for a charity, fly for a challenge, fly over my own school - Grove School, and increase my skills and learning.
Thank you for reading and your support.
Isabelle
