Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are raising money for the charity UN Women UK to help women & girls living in war torn Ukraine during these incredibly difficult times.
Women and girls are consistently disproportionately affected by conflict and are at an increased risk of all forms of violence, including sexual violence.
More than 1.5 million people – two thirds women and children – have been internally displaced since the start of the conflict in 2014, with the Russian annexation of Crimea, and now suffer from a lack of access to healthcare, housing and employment. These numbers will only increase.
Women and girls are a high-risk group, exposed to heightened risks to their human rights. An increased number of women and girls caught in the conflicts will experience exacerbated forms of violence.
We are performing the play 'Bad Roads', written by Ukraine's leading playwright, Natal'ya Vorozhbit, at The Blue-Orange Theatre in Birmingham May 24-27, to highlight the plight of women & girls living in wartime Ukraine and therefore the dire need that they are in.
It will be the first performances in the UK since it’s première at The Royal Court in 2017, and thus since the current Russian invasion.
'Bad Roads' is a heart-breaking, powerful, bitterly comic account of what it is to be a woman in wartime Ukraine.
Created from first hand interviews, and including the playwright’s own experiences, it gives us a true insight into the lives of women & girls on the ground today.

Natal’ya Vorozhbit wrote 'Bad Roads' in 2017 in response to the Russian annexation of Crimea in 2014, having been present in the country when it happened.
She was also living in Kyiv, Ukraine when Russian bombs began to fall in February last year, forcing her to flee for her life with her mother, her daughter and their cat and drive for 30 hours to seek safety.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. It's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So even if you can't make it to the theatre for one of our shows you can still help us raise much-needed funds to help women & girls in Ukraine today get the things they need to survive.
Thank-you.
