Story
Thank you for visiting our just giving page .
For those of you that know me, you will know I love a challenge, BUT this adventure has an added complexity that will put me completely out of my comfort zone and it’s not the 1000 miles (well partly😂) its having the courage to record my journey for all to see via social media to raise awareness for CLAPA https://www.clapa.com/
I have decided to cycle 1000 miles solo from John O Groats to Lands End to celebrate the support that we have received for Olly, our son, who was born with a unilateral cleft lift and plate. He has grown into a confident, resilient and amazing young man and we would like to thank everyone that has supported us on our journey, with it many ups and downs, especially CLAPA. If you want to find out more about the support we have had the link following link explains more https://www.clapa.com/treatment/timeline/ and of course we have our own stories to tell.
Three babies are born with a cleft lip and/or palate every day in the UK, and they face a 20-year treatment pathway which can continue well into adulthood. The Cleft Lip & Palate Association (CLAPA) is here to make sure no one has to go through this alone.
Every donation will help CLAPA to continue to provide specialist, targeted services to give people affected by cleft the knowledge and emotional support they need, while their UK-wide community brings together people from all walks of life to share experiences, accept and celebrate every child’s and families unique journey.
I have 1000m to go!! Wish me luck 🍀 by donating and should you want to find out how I am getting on and offer messages of encouragement/humour or strength then please follow me on Facebook or via the CLAPA Website, which I will tag in.
P.S. Olly has kindly and bravely allowed me to share pics of him with his cleft and of him now (a strapping15 year old) if you would like to see these pics the please click on the map and swipe.
