Story

This is my year for the London Triathlon in memory of Martin and to raise some money for the British Heart Foundation.

Martin was born in May 1975 when we were in our early 20’s and living in Nottinghamshire. It was an exciting time, starting a new marriage, a new home in a new area and welcoming baby Martin into the world. We were so proud and loved him so much. We had no idea he had a serious heart condition which meant our time with him was to be very short.

It wasn’t until 1989 when delivering supplies to orphanages in Romania that I started to come to terms with what had happened. I decided then that one day I would take on a challenge in memory of Martin and raise funds for British Heart Foundation as a tribute.

The London Triathlon became my challenge and will mean so much: remembering Martin and sharing his memory with all our children, their families and friends.

London Triathlon:

Takes place on Sunday 28th July starting at the ExCel Centre with an open water swim (750m) in the Royal Victoria Dock followed by a cycle (20km) and run (5k).

Thanks for reading our story, your encouragement means so much and will keep me going on the day!
