Story
I’m Emmanuel Sonubi, stand-up comedian (Live at the Apollo, QI, The John Bishop Show, Comedy Central Live, Pointless Celebrities) or The Stand Up Sketch Show. I’m embarking on the London to Brighton bike ride — 54 miles / 86.9 km of sweat, scenery, and solidarity — to raise £54,000 all in support of the British Heart Foundation.
In 2019, I suffered heart failure — on stage, of all places. I kept performing, then flew home, only to end up in ICU within hours. I was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy and told I may one day need a heart transplant. I nearly died and it changed everything.
I’m trading punchlines for pedals to raise funds and awareness — for better research, treatments, and ultimately, lives saved. Please donate and help me hit that lofty target: £54,000 for a cause that helped give me a second chance, the British Heart Foundation
Turning that ordeal into comedy wasn’t easy. It’s taken years to be able to talk about it honestly — but when audiences laugh and connect, I know it’s not only necessary, it’s powerful .
Every contribution — no matter how small — makes a massive difference.
