Royal Parks Half Marathon 2025 · 12 October 2025 ·

Dravet Syndrome UK is dedicated to improving the lives of children and adults living with Dravet Syndrome through medical research, education and awareness and appropriate support.

Story

We are Emma and Jake, and this October we’re running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Iwan – an amazing boy who inspires everyone who knows him. As Ceri’s (Iwan’s sister’s) best friend and boyfriend, we’ve known Iwan for many years and have learned so much about both the condition and the incredible strength it takes for him and his family every day.

Iwan lives with Dravet Syndrome, a rare and severe form of epilepsy that affects every part of daily life; the condition is a life long & life limiting neurological condition that cause severe seizures, intellectual disability and problems with mobility, feeding and sleep.

Despite the challenges it brings, he lives life to the fullest – whether that’s lighting up a room with his smile or singing to his favourite Katy Perry songs.

We’re raising money for Dravet Syndrome UK, a charity that provides vital support to families, funds research, and works to improve the lives of those living with this condition. Every pound we raise will go towards making a real difference for Iwan and others like him.

We are no mean ‘natural runners’ (if there is such thing) but we’ll be thinking of him every step of the way & that will get us through I’m sure. Thank you so much for supporting us! Please find out more about the condition at Dravet.org.uk
