Story

Thank you so much for stopping by our page! My Dad,Jon, and I are absolutely buzzing to be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon on April 6th for an AMAZING cause that is very close to our hearts (and my head)

From very first hand experience, we can say that every penny raised for this charity is so so important to us and so many others.

This is my story.

On the 28th August 2008, I was an unassuming and otherwise healthy 23 year old with my life ahead of me, walking the dog through Hackney with my boyfriend when my life changed forever. Out of the blue I suffered a huge brain haemorrhage from multiple ruptured aneurysms. My life should have ended there in that park. But it didn’t.

Instead I was rushed to hospital where I initially spent 3 months under the care of the hero that’s Mary Murphy, Consultant neurosurgeon. 2 open brain surgeries, 2 embolisations, countless scans, angiograms and a whole lot of pain and fear and I was sent home. The next 3 years were spent in and out of hospital for more treatments, observations, gamma knife radiotherapy surgery, and to top it off, the result of the intricate craniotomy had left me with a permanent visual impairment.

Throughout this testing time that myself and my family endured, Mary Murphy was an amazing and calming presence, personally heading up all of my treatments and we are forever grateful for her.

I was told by the consultants that I would never be able to live a normal life due to my visual impairment and my risk of seizures but I had been given a second chance at life against the odds and I wasn’t going to waste a second!

Thanks to the treatments I received from Mary Murphy and her team and all who work tirelessly at Queens Square, plus the fire in my belly and determination to live this life to the fullest, I now have my dream job, a family of my own and love running marathons with my dad raising money for charity !

And that’s where we are now. Me and my Dad are taking on this challenge of running the london Landmarks half marathon and not only that, we will be running it ALONGSIDE my brain surgeon Mary Murphy and her daughter, it’s a dream come true!

So please donate what you can for this unbelievable charity That literally owe my life to. Thanks so much for reading xx
