Story
Douglas Adams (1956-2023) was a founder member of the Little Gaddesden Walking Group (LGWG), joining its first walk on 10 September 2020, and was present on a few more walks, when he wasn’t playing golf! His death on 23 April this year following a prostate cancer diagnosis in late 2022 came as a shock to the whole community. He is much missed by all.
That inaugural LGWG walk incorporated part of the Ashridge Boundary Trail, ending up (naturally) at a pub, The Greyhound, in Aldbury!
The LGWG has designated its October walk this year as the Douglas Adams Memorial Walk, in his memory, and we will also take the opportunity to raise some money for Prostate Cancer UK. We will conclude with lunch at The Greyhound, but perhaps fine wine should be the order of the day, rather than beer! Having said which, a 'Douglas Adams' might be more appropriate, apparently being a large Stella (or equivalent) in a straight glass!
It was a great walk and all were touched that some members of the family joined us. Wonderful to see them and support them.
