Fundraising for Herriot Hospice Homecare.
Leap into action for local hospice care.
This leap year, we’ve teamed up with the Darlington and Stockton Times to help raise the extra £12,500 needed to deliver our vital services on the 29th February - can you help fund an additional day of care?
Across remote and rural communities throughout Hambleton and Richmondshire, we’ve been providing personalised care for people living with a terminal illness for over thirty years.
Come rain or shine, the caring and compassionate Herriot Hospice Homecare team is proud to deliver support to thousands of people each year via healthcare assistants like Helen, travelling hundreds of miles each week to help people living with terminal illness remain in their own homes in the last days and weeks of their lives.
Helen said; “There’s nothing more rewarding than supporting people at the most vulnerable time, making that special connection.
“Little things can make a huge difference – for example, a smile, holding hands, playing someone’s favourite music and having a chat.
“It’s a chance for people to feel like themselves and not just an illness.”
As well as delivering the HOME Service and a Wellbeing Network, we’ve worked tirelessly over the past 12 months to revolutionise our care offering and expand services to include a new local hospice, Herriot Hospice@The Lambert, which is based in Thirsk.
Herriot Hospice@The Lambert will offer inpatient hospice care, bereavement support rooms, a café and community hub facility – providing a warm and welcoming place to visit and stay for local people.
While Herriot Hospice@The Lambert is in its final stages, our HOME service is covering 1,000 square miles of rural North Yorkshire, in the place people call home. Last year, the team cared for 166 people.
Now, we’re asking our community to continue supporting their local hospice by making a donation to fund the extra day of care this year. All funds raised will support the Herriot Hospice Homecare team, who are delivering care across our district right now, in the place people call home, via the charity's Wellbeing Network, plus the soon-to-open Herriot Hospice@The Lambert to ensure it is a real home from home.
