Story
I will be joining Kerry and her friends to tandem sky dive on Sunday 6 August 2023 to support the Severn Hospice.
When Kerry, a work colleague told me she was doing a sky dive along with her friends Ravina and Hardeep, I told her how amazing I thought it would be and that it had been something that I had thought about, but only thought! So when she said, “Why don’t you come and join us? I decided to take the plunge! and say yes and I knew straight away that I wanted to try to raise funds for The Severn Hospice because of the support my family had from them.
On 24 October 2020, my much loved and very special Mum, Anne, sadly passed away at the Hospice in Telford. Just 3 months earlier, she was diagnosed with an inoperable tumour of the colon and was referred to the Hospice at Home team. They quickly put everything in place, to ensure she could be cared for at home for as long as possible and gave so much support to all of us. When we arrived at the Hospice it felt like being given a great big warm comforting hug. There are not enough words to say how amazing everyone there is and me and my family cannot thank everyone enough for everything they did. Mum was cared for with compassion, they ensured she was not in pain and she passed away with dignity with me and my sister by her side.
The Severn Hospice provides specialist care and emotional support for families in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales who are living with an incurable illness. All of their care is provided for free, but it is not without cost - they have to raise £2 for every £3 they spend. It's because we care that they can.
I’m absolutely thrilled that Kerry, Ravina and Hardeep will be helping me to support the Severn Hospice. I know this will be a scary and thrilling challenge, but it will be worth it! If you would like to donate then that would be amazing and we would all be extremely grateful.
Thank you!
