Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Whilst participating in the Lake District Ultra Challenge in 2022 (my last fundraising event), I met my now friend Keith. He had been diagnosed with Parkinson's a couple of years previously. We walked together for a good stretch of the challenge and I learnt about Keith's determination to tackle the disease head-on with remaining as active as possible, taking on long distance events like the one we were on, amongst many other sporting activities.
Last summer I bumped into Keith again on the Peak District Ultra Challenge and I learnt of the amazing campaigning and fundraising he had been doing around virtual reality headsets and how they help alleviate the symptoms of people with Parkinson's.
When Keith joined me for a leg of my Coast to Coast walk last September, I let him know that he had inspired me to make my next fundraising challenge one where I would participate for Parkinson's UK.
Parkinson's UK invest in speeding up the development of new treatments, therapies and technology for Parkinson's. From diagnosis, they also provide the right information and support, so you can feel more in control of life with the condition and remain as fit and healthy as possible.
On Saturday 13th July, I will take part in 'Race to the Stones' for Parkinson's UK. I will be traversing the UK’s oldest trail, 'The Ridgeway', as I race 100km towards the 5000-year-old Avebury Standing Stones, a UNESCO World Heritage site, in one day.
