Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm trying to raise funds for an amazing charity called Harry's Pals which provide support for parents who have had to come to terms with the fact that their children have complex medical needs and will need care for the entirety of their lives.
Hearing the news that your child is sick or has a disability or a life limiting illness or a complex medical issue is one of the hardest things a parent can go through, and currently there is precious little support for those that have to go through this. I know this from experience, my own son Teddy was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder at the age of two and we had to adapt very quickly to what our new lives were going to look like. Apart from friends and family, we were on our own. Therapy and counselling is very expensive and with sometimes long waiting lists the support just isn't readily available. Harry's Pals are there to provide support and respite for parents going through such a devastating experience. Be it with therapy, respite breaks or just as simple as having somebody to talk to who has been through something similar. It's a vital service for those that need it.
Harry's Pals is a small charity and they need support because so many parents need this help and they don't want to be in a position where they cannot deliver on what they're offering because they don't have the means. This is why it's vital to raise as much money as possible to help them help as many people as possible.
That's why I have decided to take on the three peaks challenge in Yorkshire on July 6th. If it means I raise some money for Harry's Pals then I will happily shift my aching body over three hills in 12 hours and walk 26 miles in the process and collapse at the end. All for a good cause. I've got new boots so it SHOULD work out alright. Please please please consider chucking some money in the bucket to help us out.
Thanks so much.
