Story
Ruby was cruelly taken from us in October 2023 at just 31 years old. Her death was caused by an undiagnosed genetic heart condition called Sudden arrhythmic death syndrome (SADS). The stark reality is many victims of this disease die far too young and with simple screenings and diagnosis, many of these deaths can be prevented.
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people still lose their lives to preventable heart disease. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures.
Every week in the UK, 12 people under the age of 35 die from sudden cardiac events.
