Story

On April 1st 2024, 8 year old Ezra and dad, Sean are going to attempt to cycle from Dunkirk, through Belgium and Holland till they get to the German border. This is approximately 600km (375miles) which they hope to reach around 7 to 8 days after starting out. Their aim is to cover 75-85km a day with a rest day somewhere in the middle. That means around 6-7hrs of cycling a day at and average of 12 to 13km/h. Quite a feat for an 8 year old!

Ezra is no stranger to sponsored cycle challenges. Smashing 100 miles as a 4 year old in August 2020 and then just 5 months later as a just turned 5 year old - a 320mile challenge in January-March 2021. In May 2022, as a 6 year old he did a 105miles in under 72 hours.

Cycling to school everyday he is now up for this much crazier challenge, hoping to get some selfies with dad in front of various European football stadiums and clubs along the way.

Over the past few years we have become increasingly aware of and are humbled by the amazing work and support of the Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital Charity. Friends of ours have been supported and cared for by these folks as their children were being cared for and treated and so we unreservedly want to support their work as they strive to help more people trying to cope in the midst of unforeseen challenges and turmoil of having a child seriously unwell and needing specialist care. We are riding in memory of amazing little Amos and also in support of incredible Iona.

Please consider sponsoring Ez in this mammoth challenge and know that whatever you are able to give is going to one of the most worthwhile causes that we know.

Do also keep up to date with our With the Wind Bike Journey progress on Cyclewithbikeman Facebook and Instagram pages (and hopefully this Just Giving page as well).

Childhood and cancer. Two words that should never go together.

But every week, around five children in the UK lose their lives to cancer. Thats five families who are faced with the worst news possible.

A child doesnt have to die from cancer for it to take their life. It can take away their childhood, their opportunities to learn and even to have children of their own one day.

Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) cares for children with the hardest to treat cancers. Were already pushing the boundaries. Pioneering research is underway to find the most effective treatments and cures, which give hope to children and their families.

But these advances have outstripped GOSHs current cancer care facilities, and the hospital needs a new home to create breakthrough therapies which will benefit children all over the world.

Help us build the new Childrens Cancer Centre at GOSH and save more childrens lives.

If you can help build it, you can help beat it.

When he was 5, Ezra smashed over 300miles in 9 weeks!
