Cats Protection's Belfast fundraiser for Alex

On the 22nd September 2023, little 7-week-old kitten Alex was discovered cowering inside a car engine by a concerned member of the public. The good Samaritan fished Alex safely from the engine and immediately reached out to Cats Protection’s Belfast Adoption Centre for help. Once in Cats Protection’s vets it was discovered Alex had a nasty injury to his lower jaw, resulting in the skin becoming detached in what’s known as a ‘deglove’ injury. Alex underwent urgent surgery to stitch the wound together. Beyond his injuries, Alex was in poor condition overall. He was emaciated due to lack of food and was pot-bellied with a large parasitic worm burden. The team knew right away that Alex would need lots of TLC to get him back on the road to recovery. After treating for worms and fleas, providing nutritious kitten food, and sleeping in a warm bed, Alex was feeling and looking more like a healthy kitten should.
Before Alex can find his forever home, he will also be neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. We have calculated that the cost of his care will be in excess of £500 and that is where we are asking for your help. We appreciate times are tight and the minimum donation is £2.00. Your support today will help us get Alex back on his feet and into a safe and loving home. Any funds raised over and above our target to help Alex will go to help other cats and kittens in our centre and will help us achieve our vision where every cat has the best possible life because they are protected, cared for and understood by everyone. Thank you.
