Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am taking on the challenge of doing a skydive for a charity that is very close to my heart after a good friend of mine lost her dad to a rare cancer called ocular melanoma. It’s a cancer that starts in the eye, but sometimes spreads, and I honestly didn’t realise just how different it can be for people when they have a rare cancer as the treatments people need aren’t available.

Your donations will be used to pay for specialist psychological support sessions and help keep their helpline open so that people always have somewhere to turn.

My friend formed Ocular Melanoma UK, so I’ve seen it grow and support more and more people every year. I became a trustee a few years ago and am blown away by the amount of advocacy work they do so that people have the treatment, support and information they need. That sounds easy, but there’s a lot to fix.

I’ve always wanted to do a skydive but doing this for this charity will be incredible so if you’d love to see me throw myself out of a plane, I’d really appreciate your support 😊

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Ocular melanoma is so rare and the prognosis often so overwhelming, that patients frequently report feeling totally isolated. We advocate for change by uniting stakeholders against ocular melanoma cancers so people receive the treatment, information and support they need.
